You need to install status bar clock applet.

You need to go to Date and Time Options in the Control Panel and change it from Analog to Digital.

Yeah, how do you change it to 12 hr, not 24hr. ??

I don't think that you can have a digital clock on the 12 hour scale. If you want a clock on the 12 hour scale, I believe that you would have to use the analog clock. I would love to be corrected, though.
