I re-installed the -49 firmware and no more reboot loop problems. Further down in this thread is an entry about a reboot loop problem with the omweather update on the N800.

I wll stay clear of this apps for the time being.

strange...mine wasn't working earlier when I installed it, but now when I went back, it was updating properly.

I could not reproduce your problem. And I hope that it has been connected with leaks of memory.

I can second that. I have a 770 with the latest 2006 firmware (gregale, 3.2006.49-2). It's not just that the icon doesn't show when the connection is up, the network applet doesn't even recognise that it is up and clicking on it shows the "select connection" dialog when it should display the "disable connection" dialog.

Just upgraded to 0.17.1 and it is even worse, now it keeps forgetting the WEP key and I'm often not able to connect at all. I had to remove OMWeather, a pity for such a nice applet.

Just reinstall an earlier version, like 1.6 something. That's what I had to do and it's now working fine.

it is strange. Maybe vasvlad can figure it out!

I am using 0.17.1 and all is well for me. I just upgrade, then reboot the N800 (no power cord in) and then it is upgraded to the new version.

I submitted a bug about the network applet issue at https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/ind...id=93&atid=417.

Having the infinitely-crashing home problems with my N800 as well. Since I'm going to end up reflashing anyway, I'll try to create a minimal reproducible test case. What I recall doing before it started: installed omweather previous version, uninstalled. (Time passes. Had the background-and-menus vanishing problem appear in Home, tried uninstalling OMWeather to see if that fixed it. It didn't.) Installed new version and extra icons. Switched to 'Home'. Activated OMWeather, tapped it to get parameter dialog, entered 'United States' 'Arizona' 'Gilbert' as location, hit OK. Home immediately crashed and went into an infinite crash/restart loop.
