    On http://maemo.org/downloads/ there's download statistics for each app in extras.

    IIRC they should be updated every other week or so.

    Now it seems the whole thing got stuck and there's no update after Dec. 8th. - Is this a bug or was the feature temporarily disabled because of the server situation?

    Wasn't sure if it actually is a bug.

    As I'm typing this, I see there's a related bug report:

    I commented on it.

    The message list on the bug report says "...Statistics for direct
    repository downloads are updated manually and the graphs are updated only then."

    How manual is it? A person running a utility, or a person typing in numbers?

    If its not too manual, perhaps it could be automated.

    I have a somewhat related observation. My application Fuelpad has been in Fremantle extras since 2010-02-17 and the number of downloads (not the statistics figure) has increased at about 100 a day. Now I noticed that the number has increased to 6000. I could swear that it was about 600 yesterday since I was bragging to my wife about it. Well, a google search gives me a new blog entry in www.mobiledownloadblog.com. Still, I find it quite unbelievable. Can such a blog entry affect that much? The download statistics figure seems not to be in sync with the downloads number.

    Hey... I'm not starting a new thread bc this probably is so simple and is also related to developers "against" maemo.org (lol).
    I have two apps so far, one of them automatically got a screenshot there while the other is without one. How could the author submit a screenshot?

    @jlu:
    My apps had the same downloads explosion (~380>~11967 and ~450-> 9973 )! I believe they added downloads from app manager to the number.

    I think y'all should make your apps call home and set your own counters :P

    Do you know:
    • How those statistics are measured (e.g. are apt-get and application manager installs counted)? and
    • How one rates an application?
