well i decided on the n800 as my mobile way to be online 24/7 so now ive been doing as much research as i can on what cell phone/plan/and carrier to get. after some research about some recommended phones, i found that the new v3xx by motorola has the new hspda modem that can do max 3.6 downloads where other 3g phones does max of 1.6. so i added the phone to my cart at the cingular site and it shows that the only data media max data plan to choose has a max of 5mb data. i thought that was pretty interesting. because of this, maybe even their so called media max unlimited plans probably has a cap of somewhere between 5-10mb a month. similiar to how verizon's unlimited internet plan is actually a 5g cap.

so as of now, im debating between

lg cu500
cingular sync
v3xx

I have had all three. The best by far is V3xx. Especially, if you only base your decision on connecting a n800 via bluetooth to the internet.

Call me naive, but I don't see how anyone can get by with a 5Mb monthly quota. To test I have saved the current page on my desktop. It is 404Kb! So all I may do in a whole month is to view 15 web pages? Try it yourself.

I have the 19.99 unlimited which I have used to tether without being charged. I hear that they may start charging again, does anyone know anything more about this? (V3xx or cu500v are the fastest phones )

He said 5g, maybe he meant 5 Gigabyte? That might be doable for N800 internet access... but if they charge me I'm gonna push them hard since my plan says "unlimited"

yea, in verizon they have the unlimited data plan but users have found out that they kick you off if your data usage goes past 5 gigs.

they must of just changed their site because now, for unlimited data for the v3xx is 24.99.

btw...does anyone know if i buy an unlocked v3xx, i can just place my current cingular sim card into the v3xx, upgrade my plan to unlimited media net, and all is well with the n800?

also isnt it true that since bluetooth has max data transfer of ~2mb, than getting the v3xx is sort of a waste since the bottleneck?

It is true that bluetooth is limits speed, but is also true that those limitations are based on optimal usage test settings. Basically, meaning that you will never come close to reaching those limitations in the real world. On Cingular or any other wireless provider at this time. I have tested many phone speeds on Cingular and V3xx is the best. Hands down. It is also the only phone currently available on Cingular that can actually grow faster when Cingular increases their 3G performance abilities.
