So i switched to T-mobile from Verizon to get a sim card so i can finally use my N900 as a phone. I decided to just get a voice plan for now, as i have wifi almost everywhere i use the phone. In the process, they asked me if i wanted a "free" phone and i figured a backup phone might be nice so i said "yes". What i ended up with in the mail a week later is a nasty little Blackberry candbar phone. The worst part about it is that the charger port takes a different plug than my N900! I guess this is mini-usb? Ugh.

So, more tech gadgetry garbage kicking around. I thought about selling it, but don't know if that's even possible. It's presumably locked. My knowledge of the arcane arts of US cell network policies and practices is limited.

So, what are you other T-mobilers doing with your "free" phone?

I opted for no contract (cheaper plan) and no phone, got a free sim card in the mail and got activation fee waved due to my employer.

That's what i was considering, but it turned out i could join in the family hive mind and pay just $10/month for it, so i went that route.

So, i've got this "free" phone...

I am keeping mine as a backup if I ever have to send the N900 in for repairs.
