I'm about to upgrade from a 770 to N800 and want to buy a pair of 8gb SDHC cards for it. The big question is whether to go for class 2 cards (2Gb/s) or the newer class 4 (4Gb/s) or class 6 (6Gb/s) cards. The Transcend 8gb class 2 cards are available for £46.50, but the reports I have seen were disappointed with the speed.

Kingston now have class 4 and 6 cards becoming available for about £70, but is the speed improvement worth the cost premium. Is anyone out there able to provide a comparison. Is the performance improvement is actually that noticable in everyday use?

I use 4GB cards, but continue to have issues with them -- where the N800 thinks that they are read-only.

I have 2 A-Data 8GB SDHC cards running with the newest OS, and no problems to report.

So SDHC flash cards are now supported with the 3.2007.10-7 release?

Yes, I saw the kernel flash wiki, was just wondering if Nokia built SDHC card support in the newest version. Thanks.

Class 2 vs Class 4 has been discussed in another thread - in my opinion you won't see any benefit on the N800 from a Class 4 or Class 6 over Class 2, so save your money and buy Class 2.

For reference, I'm using 2x 8GB Transcend Class 2 cards and getting 12MB/s read speed. Write speed is hard to determine due to OS buffering but certainly it doesn't appear to be a problem.
