I'm sure i'm missing something blindingly obvious, because I have a tendency to do that. Is there a way to control which account subfolders Modest gives you notifications for? I'm specifically referring to a MfE account on a N900. It syncs all of my subfolders, but I would prefer not to have it notify me every time a message hits my junk e-mail folder (I only need to be reminded that I can get V1agrA on the cheap so often).

Interesting. I asked a similar question the other day, about modest and IMAP:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38708

It was the opposite way around - I am not seeing notifications for any folder other than Inbox.

Is it possible the notifications are implemented differently for MfE than for IMAP?

In any case, selecting which subfolders notify is very useful.

Hmm, does Modest automatically sync all subfolders for IMAP accounts? I don't have an IMAP service available atm to test or I would just try it myself. I'm wondering if it's just setup to automatically notify for all subfolders that it syncronizes.

I am not sure.

It doesn't appear to sync all of the imap folders until you go into modest and open the account folder - once it expands out the folder list, then it seems to traverse the folder tree and update the headers if there are new emails.

So it seems like the background polling is only polling the inbox folder.

I would suspect that's why it's only providing notifications for the inbox folder, but obviously I don't understand the inner workings of Modest enough to really know. Maybe once the more knowledgeable board members recover from their hangovers tomorrow they can give us some insight

Somehow i've now completely disabled notifications for Modest. I think i'm moving backwards in the problem-solving process at this point...

How did you do that?

I certainly didn't do it on purpose, but a reboot seems to have restored everything to the way it was. I'm honestly not sure what I did.

But where were you changing settings to get this to go wrong - I can't see any options for altering folder notifications anywhere?
