I've been listening to music with Canola lately off my 8gb trascend sdhc card. It seems to skip a lot when playing music. I thought it was the sd cards fault but I tested it by playing music in the media player and haven't heard it skip yet. Is there any fix for this in canola or any idea of why this is happening?

Thanks!

I typed that in (thank you very much I thought I was just screwed with skippy music) and it said in xterminal:

Usage: renice {{-n INCREMENT} I Priority} [[ -p I -g I -u ] ID ...]

Do have have to type anything after typing in the previous code:

renice 0 `pidof mmcqd`

or should it work. I tested it out after only typing in the first part and it's still skipping. Does it make a difference if I'm working off of the internal card for music use?

Thanks again!

As root after each boot just copy&paste the mentioned code. The whole line.

Sorry last time I promise....

So I put in Xterm the following:

sudo gainroot

renice 0 `pidof mmcqd`

and it still skips! I have becomeroot installed of course and for some reason Canola is still skipping during songs. Both inputs go through the process as if it's solving the problem but nothing seems to be fixed still. Does it make a difference what sdhc kernel I have? I have the sdhc-kernel-3.2007.10.bin

after you run the renice command try also
Code:
ps | grep mmcq
if you see '<' for mmcqd like this
Code:
Nokia-N800-10:~$ ps | grep mmcq
  281 root SW< [mmcqd]
 2043 user 396 S grep mmcq
it didn't work, you probably have quotes wrong, try it directly with mmcqd pid from first column
Code:
renice 0 281
if you don't see < and music stil skips, it in another problem. maybe you also need to wait until metalayer-crawler indexes the card (after each reboot or card insertion). Or Canola may have similar indexing daemon.

run 'top' xcommand in xterm to see cpu usage

it doesn't matter which SDHC kernel you have
