gnasgame3: What was wrong? What did you do to get things working? Someone else might have the same problems and wish someone had written up a "detailed guideline" for how to solve the problems...

downloaded libfuse.so.2.7.2 from debian repo. to /opt .

run the " truecrypt <tc_volume> <mount_pt> -m nokernelcrypto

I've thrown cifs.ko, mount.cifs and ntfs.ko into a package called "winfs" in my repo.

winfs 0.2 now adds the /etc/event.d/cifs script and automatically adds the cifs module upon install. You still have to mount things manually, however, or use a front end that supports mount.cifs.

Ok, I have figured out how to get it compiled on the builders and I have added Cifs ("kernel-modules-cifs") to the Extras-Devel repository (should be promoted to extras-testing very shortly! -- Promotion system appears to be having "issues").

I will be adding ntfs shortly. Then following that truecrypt.

In addition I have updated the wizard mounter source code to work properly on fremantle/n900! I also took synthaxx idea and applied it to the wizard mounter; so everything is now mounted in "/media/Remote_Filesystems/<servername>@<serverpath>". (Thanks, synthaxx, excellent idea!)

The wizard mounter does NOT need to "mount.cifs" anymore to work. So basically, all that you need is kernel-module-cifs, and the new version of the wizard mounter and you can "easily" mount nfs and cifs shares.

I'm going to pass the updated wizard-mounter code to the original developer shortly and I believe they will be releasing it asap for you all!

Nathan

do you also planned to promote mount.cifs into extras devel to let me use CIFS without wizard-mounter too?

Sometimes a click at the "Thanks!" link is just not enough. Nathan, what you're doing here is adding considerably to the usage value of the N900. Nokia herself should thank you.
