I'm a chemistry Postgrad student and EasyChem looks great! i Just bought an n900 would love to see it ported. If only it was easier to learn to develope for linux/maemo

MMS would be great as well but i'm sure nokia must be working on that one?

yerga has been working on a port of EasyChem. You could help him testing the current version for Maemo 5 in Extras-devel, a repository for developers not really suitable for end users.

EasyChem will be available in the N900 eventually.

The version available in Extras-devel is just a port from the Maemo 4 version, so the widgets are tiny, and only usable with the stylus. This is the reason because I haven't promoted it to the most stable repositories.

I have a version adapted for Maemo 5 (it miss some minor things to be adapted), it works perfectly in the SDK, but it crashes in the N900. So, there's some work to do yet.

In January I will be very busy, so I will do little Maemo work, but in February I will fix the existing bugs, and I'll upload it to the repositories.

I have given it a few goes, its clean and fast, but some things are not very intuitive, for example it says "ring size:6" but I cant figure out how to paste a ring without manually drawing all bonds. And as you say its very small on the n900 screen quite fidly. Thanks though, i'll keep testing when I see updates.
