Is possible we install any softphone client in maemo maybe like that ekiga or any softphone that support SIp protocol. I have an asterix server phone system installed in my office and I need integrate my nokia N900 like an extension.

There is support built in for SIP on Maemo5/N900 and also on earlier devices.

Edit: asterix itself is in the testing repository.

built in SIp is limited

What are the limitations? Worked for all setups I tested...

well, it works .... but you cannot play with th settings ... so it works in general, but not in any particular casea

my case. on n82 sip settings, there is a field "public user name". the info there is what the caller id sends to the receiver of the call.
so i had "sip:+mymobileno@nonoh.net" (nonoh is my voip service and my mobile is registered with them) and the receiver of my calls was seeing my mobile no calling ... not private no, or a strange no that he would not care to call back ...

i really miss this!

I miss video for SIP too.

When will be available Video in SIP on Maemo 5 ?

I would be happy to get sip working for me with audio, and you're complaining about some features
