http://wiki.maemo.org/Accessing_Windows_CIFS says n900 doesn't support samba/cifs does that mean it is impossible?

Keep an eye out and see if WizrdMount gets ported from Diablo to the N900.

Hm,
HTML Code:
Nokia-N900-42-11:~# apt-cache search smb
gvfs-backends - userspace virtual filesystem - backends
Nokia-N900-42-11:~#
suggests that the installed package gvfs-backends can do something with window shares. Perhaps there's only no frontend for that?

Well, in the kernel there's no support for smbfs/cifs:
Code:
Nokia-N900-42-11:~# modprobe cifs
FATAL: Module cifs not found.
Nokia-N900-42-11:~#
But that only means you can not mount a remote windows share! Access to remote shares can also be done otherwise, e.g. with smbclient.

I was suprised, that Midnight Commander has internal Samba client. It's able to mount and copy files from Windows share. Try to install MC from Extra devel repository and use "SMB link..." from its menu.

Hey that's an awesome tip, thanks a lot! Super simple, plus I like MC.
