I got the new FW from nokia pc suit and it went fine. But when I went to to the app manager or ovi to download an app it kept getting stuck on the preparing for installation bar and then all the apps are gone in the app manager. I've reinstalled the new FW and to no avail at all. At least my other functions work.

Can you view the Application Log? That would help.

Either that, or if you have root, the output of running "apt-get update" in the terminal as root would also be beneficial to helping you troubleshoot the problem.

You can install any repository-based app from the command line using "apt-get install" but you need to know the package name for the app. You can usually find this using "apt-cache search" to search for part of the app name (e.g. apt-cache search birds).

Dear cashclientel

I had been having the same problmes as you but have managed to fix the problem (although I dont know whether the fix is a good one in terms of doing things properly).

Ovi Store was working for me before update to PR1.1. When I updated I also re-flashed the eMMC, so had a completely clean N900. Although I did backup the .documents .sounds .backup and .video and copied back accross and then ran a restore from my backup. This may have messed up some settings... I don't know.

However after all this I now couldnt install from the Ovi store.

So I have done the following:

1. uninstall the auto login add-ons in the browser.
2. Disable the Ovi repo.
3. Add another Ovi. repo with exactly the same settings.
4. To test install Angrybirds via apt-get install angrybirds (as noted in this thread). This worked.
5. So I browsed to Ovi store and installed Discs. On install I came up with a message saying Ovi repo was disabled. I accepted the enabling of it and it continued and installed Discs fine.

I hope this helps.

Phil

Right, found the fix for this... somehow the /opt directory had been removed in the flash. recreated and everything is fine.

for dummies:

I'm never installing any of the things from testing or devel again!
