Well, after one update my browser fell in the same black hole - no downloads, no settings preserved. Renamed the .mozilla folder in /home/user/ and after browser daemon and browser restart, the folder was recreated and everything worked. Hope that helped.

    No need for reflash.

    I suspect I might have a pre-production model.

Hard reset is the plan of action.

    Run X Terminal and enter:
    Code:
    mv .mozilla .mozilla.old

Before flashing, for browser related issues, this usually helps:
    Code:
    rm -rf ~/.mozilla/microb
For OVI Maps related issues, this usually helps:
    Code:
    rm -rf ~/MyDocs/cities
Restart your N900 (or restart the browser daemon) afterward, and check the results. If that doesn't help, you'll have to flash your eMMC, or even to reflash the firmware itself.

After the update I had some problems with Firefox as well. I unistalled it and reinstalled it from the site. Works like a charm ever since.
