I finally found the installation error:

After removing SdictViewer I could install Mediacenter.

I don't know what happened. I installed python 2.5 and UK MP RC3. It started once and crashed almost immediately. Now it doesnt even start and i dont know how to debug whats going on. I re-installed it but doesnt help.

I'll try to remove the ._.DS_Store entries from the package for the final release. They are automatically generated by osx in the dirs, so I'll have to make some script that will weed them out.

@ others:
Please try restarting your n800 and then try opening media player again.
If possible, try opening the app from xterm with command:
/usr/bin/MediaCenter
You should be able to know and tell me what is the problem.

Hi konttori,

First, let me say I have not tried UKMP yet, and probably won't unless it offers some major new function over the competition to satisfy my selfish needs. So, feel free to ignore my uninformed request.

However, one thing that *would* swing me into your camp quickly would be gapless MP3 playback. Once you've experienced it on material where it makes a difference, the lack is seriously annoying. And therefore, the first app to land this feature on the N800 will really have something to crow about.

If you're interested in considering this enhancement, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to play tester. Thanks and good luck with your efforts!

With gapless playback, do you mean that there is no gap between the songs or that they cross fade each other? Former I can add, the latter is semi-impossible on n800 hardware while using dsp to play the files (and conserver power).
