I was getting a horrific battery life since the upgrade, being dumb was blaming on the new firmware but when I looked carefully right before an update I had installed an app which let me change my operator name.
I removed it yesterday evening(18th jan. 2010), now the time is(19th jan. 2010) from lshal it shows me I still have 45% battery remaining. Glad I noticed it.
Ohh yeah my phone connects to wi-fi automatically within 5 minutes.
all day in wi-fi at work and all night in wi-fi at home. Glad to have my phone back( as it was before I uninstalled this app).

I am sorry man but I cannot remember the name. All I know is you can change the operator name by going into your settings and it will ask you to reboot your phone when you are done editing to take the edit into effect(is it affect? I get really confused with these two words, not a native english speaker).
And also, I have seen other forum members using this app with-out any complain.

Apps and such do do strange things to phones.
I had a theme of my N95 8gb and the battery would last for an hour at most.
I thought the battery was broken, but as soon as i changed the theme it would be back to normal.

Try installing it again? maybe the update did something weird to a file it relies on?
