Stupid question: Where do I find apps besides Ovi?

I'm not yet an N900 owner, but plan to buy it within the week, after doing much research. This may be covered elsewhere, but for a Maemo noob (coming from a rooted G1), where else besides the decidedly lackluster Ovi store can one find apps for the N900? Not themes or useless, timewasting games, I mean options for Twitter, news, sports feeds, real productive pieces of software made by people much smarter than I.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

You can also see what apps are going through QA, on their way to extras.

I wouldn't recommend installing them unless you know what you're doing, and know what to do if something goes horribly wrong.

(Oh, and btw, never state a question as a "stupid question." Gotta have confidence, even if you know it's stupid.)

Actually this is not a stupid question. All of us searched for more apps besides OVI.

n900 comes with it's own app manager (kinda like market/appstore)...the apps in there are also listed HERE on this website. CHEERS and enjoy your new phone....

... But as I just tried, the app manager does not update the contents of the maemo.org repository. Has the address changed since N900 launch (from the preconfigured one)?

[edit]: Seems that there's actually a reason for it:

Just when I have updated everything and ready to load my device full of bliss...
