Hi guys, hope you can help. I've seen some N800 screen shots with different looking home screens, such as icons along the bottom of the screen, bigger touch icons etc, more of a windows style environment, and i don't mean the fake xp ones. Any ideas which program can change the gui on the n800? I'm very new to this so only havwe basic knowledge, so any programming I will struggle with! Thanks very much indeed in advance. Aubrey.

They are called themes and you can download them from maemo.org or from the creators site. A small note for you.... because they look more "Windows Like" it does not mean it operates or the menus change like one.... Is still the same is just a different look.

I have done a search for themes, but can only find xp and aqua and these dont change the layout of the screen, any other ideas where I could find some? I realise that they wont change the way the windows open etc, but for example I would like the menu bar along the bottom of the screen, different layout etc. Many thanks for your help.

If you mean putting icons on the "desktop", you have to install one of the two applications Idea or Simple Launcher. The former looks better but may be harder to set up.

Yes icons on the desktop would be great, where can I find 'Idea'? Sorry to seem stupid, but what are KDE or ROX? Thanks very much for all you help.

KDE and ROX are totally different window managers / GUIs, usually installed on desktop computers running linux.
Installing idea won't change anything of your user interface apart from giving you the possibility to launch the apps from a new applet on the desktop, but won't give you any XP style (argh!) or pc-desktop style user interface.

I thought you wanted something like this http://www.box.net/shared/egkhgoicap (which, besides, is far more difficult to install than idea or simple launcher!)
