    Screen/lcd backlight dead

My N900's screen will not display any colour but oddly seems to still work as a touch pad. It is like the backlight of the display has died.

If I hold my device at a certain angle, I can faintly see etchings of the screen contents on the dispaly. I was able (by memory) to enter the device lock code upon a hard boot of this device. I can just make out the Nokia handshake.

So it seems the touch screen works, and stuff is being drawn to the display. However, there is no colour or brightness to my display.

Is there any options outside of sending this device to Alabama to get fixed?

Yep, that would be a backlight problem. When did this occur? (e.g. is there any apparent possible cause?)
As for repair, I'm not sure, but just as an FYi, if you happen to live in Canada, make darn sure the center in Alabama fills out their paperwork properly, or UPS will ransom your phone for lots of money in duty charges :O

I've just encountered the above mentioned problem when trying to enter my device lock code. The backlight just disappers. The touch works because when I type the code from memory, the area I touch lights up but the remaining screen is just blank. Does anyone have any information/solution to this? I've only received my N900 yesterday and today is just the 2nd day.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank You
