Well..after owning this since January I have come to the conclusion that I just don't use this device enough to justify keeping it. I will post on ebay in a couple days. If anyone would like to contact me here to take this off my hands send me a private message. It's in PERFECT conditon, and since I haven't found a lot of need for it-hardly used!

The N800 would be a lot more useful device with a few good wireless hacking tools. Today there are lots of wireless networks, but most are using WEP or WPA and MAC address security. Just 3 or 4 years ago, I connected to wireless networks while traveling using a cantenna rather than using telephone dial-up in the hotel room.

Kind of unrelated, but...

Would it be possible to have a separate section for items for sale? Nothing against seeing these types of posts sprinkled about, but it would be nice to have a central place for posts such as this.

I agree, it would help both parties (seller and buyer) if such a forum were created. I just posted a suggestion to Reggie here - one can only hope there won't too much activity in the "For Sale" forum if it is created!

I believe hacking somebody's network is illegal in many countries. Legality of unauthorized access to somebody's WiFi is also questionable even if it's unprotected. Check out this and this story and discussion at digg.com.

Gee, do you think that's because THEY'RE TRYING TO KEEP YOU OUT?

Ignoring the legalities, obviously anyone who's stuck a password on their network isn't intending to volunteer their Internet connection for random strangers. What kinda of a prick goes around and purposely breaks into a network strictly for Internet connectivity?

The only good reason to try to crack networks is to demonstrate security vulnerabilities, so that those same networks can then have *better* security protocols applied.

What hotels do you stay in? Almost all of them have WiFi available these days, and if not there's plenty of Starbucks, McDonalds, and other places that do.
