Ok well I installed "Extra protocol plugins for Conversations and Contacts which added all my MSN contacts to my Address Book.
This is really annoying and I'd much rather just have my normal contacts showing... is there a way to just show my normal contacts and then show my MSN contacts in a separate window or group or something?
I just merged them and edited their names so they weren't so obviously out of place.. and then removed all the messenger contacts that I don't really communicate with anymore via my desktop messenger client.
It alleviated everything somewhat. Not an ideal solution, I know.
This is pretty annoying indeed. It also happens every time you email someone new - the address gets added to the contacts list automatically with no apparent option to stop this. I'd much rather be asked with the options "yes, save this new contact", "no, don't save this" and "no, never ask me this again"
I made a thread on this awhile ago. Unfortunately, there are no solution yet. I just hope they have a client of some sort later on. But right now there's not much we can do. I'd say you should disable when you don't use it ... it shouldn't show up once you disable it.
It's, until now, the worst thing I've recongnised in my n900....I hate pidgin & amsn...and I also hate the plugin integration between msn and the address book....so now I'm not using msn on my phone...but it's a pity that a so complete mobile phone like this doesn't have a proper, easy, quick, battery friendly, way to manage msn....

I did this too. Was about time anyway, and I cleaned up my gmail contacts while I was at it.
I quite like the integration as such (having everything in one place makes a lot of sense to me), but not having an option to create groups for family, friends, IM etc is a pain. That's all I'd need.
