. Still, why the delay? Isn't N97 running the same OS as 5800 does... I guess I am going back to N97 at this very moment...just to check on OVI maps. I am pretty sure that I will come back to N900 shortly as I do not foresee much driving to the unknown today

MMS works perfectly with my N900. Just install fral's fMMS app.
But I do miss my N95 8GB for turn-by-turn voice navigation.
I miss my N86 because it just felt so easy to use. Making a call took only a second, and it was just easy to get around everywhere. But I dont miss it enough to go back to it, so its all good

Yeah I kind of miss the N95 just because it has a couple of small advantages over the N900.. But nothing too serious that would make me want to go back to N95.. Crossing my fingers on the OVI Maps news to be ported to Maemo 5/N900...

it looks like all of the N900 users came from either previous N series phones, or an iphone...but that kind of makes sense in a way

I know many of us N900 users have shifted from other makes and model's to have the Maemo experience..
I thought it would be interesting to see whether anyone regrets switching to the N900 and what phone they've come from..

I do miss my N9-3 a little bit. Mostly, the following applications:
1. The ability to sync properly (calendar and conctacts) with Google, but that is almost solved. Syncing the calendar only seems to work fine, but syncing contacts is a no go, except on the fist full sync.
2. A native Google Maps application. I will not pay $80 or whatever sygic ends up charging for the N900 application. And Ovi Maps is a joke.
3. A native Gmail application. Modest is too slow. It's easier to fire up the browser and go to gmail directly.
4. Audible player. I doubt we will ever see anything compatible because Audible is not interested in linux and DRM is just a nightmare.
5. Slingplayer. Again, Slingmedia does not care for linux and the existing linux solutions involving wine are probably too convoluted for the N900. But who knows. Maybe with Easy-Debian?
6. A good Bible reader. Here I'm just waiting for Rapier or something similar to make it to extras.
I mostly listen to my audiobooks on my ipod while I'm driving, so it's not too bad if I cannot do it on the phone. I'm sure that syncing fully with Google will be resolved, so really, all I need is Google maps.
I am, in contrast, every day more impressed with all the possibilities that the N900 promises and delivers. It seems that every day there is a new application that does something amazing. So I wouldn't go back to the N95-3.

there's no slingbox and silverlight support for n900 so i still use my kaiser's sling app and skyfire for those jobs...
i'm way more happy with maemo's speed and stability than the winmo 6.1 crap and cosmetically improved 6.5 although 5 and 6 were ok.....winmo 7 must redeem the winmo line up in order for me to maybe return from them...
