when i mount my n900 in the car phone holder the power cable comes out the top and the on button is on the bottom.

its upside down. looks real odd.

is there any way to rotate the phone display by 180?

    cheers

No, he's commenting on how the USB comes out the top. This is upside-down as most phones have the charging port on the bottom. It bothers me as well.

As far as I know, there is no way to rotate the diaplay 180 degrees.

I think what the 2nd posted is trying to say is.
Just reposition the car phone holder.

that wouldnt make any difference because then the phone would be put upside down, which is why he is asking for a screen rotator app. You only need this for the GPS right?

If you rotate the screen then the microphone and speaker will be upside down compared to the screen which will be strange.

For in car GPS use will be okay though.

I had a horizontal holder for my N810 since the device was, well horizontal. I think it came with the device though. That would be the optimal solution for GPS etc.

I'm really not impressed by ovi maps - even when it gets a gps fix.
So I'm relying on my dedicated satnav.

I have my cradle mounted on my dashboard which can be rotated. If is in the horizontal position the usb connection sticks out to the left, it looks real odd, not pleaseant for the passenger, and I'm sure it will be stressing the usb socket.

So I like to have the phone in portrait, and with the cable coming out the top thats more stress on the socket apart from the aesthetics.

So please can someone generate a software option to flip the phone display?
