The HTTP response from Akamai is "504 Gateway Time-out". Maybe they have a cleaner that comes in every Saturday and unplugs the NFS server to plug in the vacuum cleaner or something...

Not working here in UK either.

I Have to disable 'extras' and 'extras-testing' respositories for a catalogue update to be successful.

Hehe, yeah. The new hosting contract went from $5/month to $10 so they couldnīt afford a extension cord with more sockets

Maybe in next years budget...... Until then we can all be productive members of society on weekends and do some archaic non-tech socially related things like converse with other members of the homo sapiens species etc.

Edit @ 12:34 : which administrator deleted the post above the first time I inserted it? Can posts be expected to disappear like that? Somebody had a sore spot for silly jokes?

    Original post ID was: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=490655

Second Edit @12:42: And now the initial post is back. Very interesting.

Yes, but only freemantle.. any mirror for diablo?

People can lower the timeout and number of retries of apt-get used by app manager.
    http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=484366&postcount=7

Depending of your network, you might have to increase the timeout if your connection is slow.

It's not going to solve repository server problem but should make your app manager hang less longer...
    The poor man's solution..

Yes, I deleted your post initially. I didn't feel your post provided anything useful and was more inclined to be taken as a trolling attempt than anything else, be it humour or not.

Reggie has overruled the decision. He also made it clear than deletion should only be used in very specific cases. I apologise for the inconvenience and hope you can forgive my mistake.

Ok, thanks for stepping forward. I feel that 90% of the posts I scroll through do not provide anything useful. Most of them are uneccessary questions, meaningless comments, silly jokes, or notes about something mundane.

But thatīs the nature of human interaction. We spend a lot of time on "uneccessary" details or being silly.

And then why not delete the other joke a little further up the thread?

Yes, Iīm glad that there are checks and balances. Trigger happy people lose themselves when left unchecked, so super-admins are needed to watch out over the trigger happy admins. Of course trigger happy people shouldnīt really be administrating threads in the first place, but thatīs a different discussion.

It wasnīt a inconvenience really, just strange.

I know itīs been beer time in Australia for many hours now. Maybe that played into it

Let's leave it at that. Carry on....

For those looking for repositories. See Jebbaīs mirrors:
