Thanks again
Hi sonic, you have to use WinSCP to move folders into your N900, you have to put the theme folder here --> /usr/share/themes
..and the icons folder here --> /usr/share/icons (be sure you put the one inside "icons" with the same name of the theme)

P.S. you also have to install OpenSSH on your Nokia N900 in order to move files over wifi between computer and N900 with WinSCP

Be careful with replacing the icons (png files) with nicer ones.

I just replaced a bunch of mine with iphone type icons and the UI started to lag like crazy. I think Maemo doesn't allocate much memory to hold these icons. I confirmed this by removing some icons from my home screen and rebooting (and then putting them back to re-confirm)

I had to compress the PNG files to fix this, but I think I'm still very close to the memory limit causing the lag.

Elisa, the Oriental Dream theme is gorgeous. My only regret is that it is not optified.

Now, if I understand correctly, all that involves is for me to move the files off rootfs and then create symlinks (in rootfs) for each of the files.

Yes?

Well, I figured out what was needed to optify the theme. I moved off rootfs all folders under the maemoitalia-oriental-dream-theme folder - and created symbolic links for each.

The same for the 64x64 folder of icons. Reclaimed space for rootfs and have a beautiful theme on my device.

Happy camper.

there is also wanted my version. I changed all the icons, but you have to replace the hicolor folder, and nice and get a copy of that already 'present in the 900

Download
