you're running XP... mhm...
have you installed SP3?

or can you use an other OS? vista? win 7? linux distro (ubuntu, etc...)?

ah just recognized that SP3 was missing, now it works lets give it a try

ahhh it worked thanks a lot


after the vanilla update, should i just flash the new Firmware over it?

this is up to you.
if everything works fine now you don't have to.
but if you want to start from 0 (maybe you messed around with extras-devel or so xD) just do it.
(but don't forget to make a backup of important things/settings with the backup-app )

I think you have to, yes, otherwise the N900 will still think there are apps installed, but they'll have been deleted from /opt when you flashed the eMMC.
