i actually routinely see n900s sell for $500 on ebay shipped. from my research i gather that's about the sweet price point for most buyers/sellers.

Open up the phone app and then from the phone menu on the top select Turning control (which I assume you did) and then set the Display Orientation to Portrait.

That should work for you, strange if that does not work - have you updated to new and latest PR1.1 update ?

i paid us480 for the device with an extra battery. not the absolute cheapest, i know dell had it for us429 a while back. but even if i got it from dell, i'm not located in the states, so overseas shipping would cost me another us30. not to mention additional 7% goods tax on the n900.

all in all, the n900 performs as well, if not better than the droid/nexus one, at a cheaper price!

goto settings, scroll to the bottom and select About product... just check what version of the software you are running

May just be an old version that needs updating, i'm hoping
(As much as you may not use it, always nice to have the phone working!) - other thing you could check..... Install the eyes widget - maybe the accelerometer is stuck?

install shortcutd using App Manager if you haven't already. multitasking is much easier with this neat little app. Just search the forum for "shortcutd" and you'll find all you need to know.

N.B. This app is in the Extras-Devel repository. Before installing any software from this repository please consider that the software is new and under active development. Because of this it may include bugs that lead to unwanted side-effects such as, but not limited to, battery drain, overheating of device, endless reboot loops... anything that could possibly go wrong with your device can go wrong when installing from the extras-devel repos. Please be very careful! If possible, before you install anything, read threads (on this forum) related to the specific app that you intend to install to find out if other users have reported problems.

Martin isn't that in development? (Need to put the usual disclaimer when you send people in there!)
