I need to cross-compile some ffmpeg libraries for a video streaming App. These libraries are not in the Extras repositories or anywhere else for Maemo. And cross compiling each one these takes a a lot of effort since they have many dependencies (Also not included in the Maemo repositories). I am using scratchbox and Maemo SDK on DIABLO N810 device.

There is no alternative to these libraries. I must have them. What is the best approach other than building the whole ffmpeg in scrachbox for ARM target)?

Build your app on top of gstreamer instead of ffmpeg.

Thus you will gain access to the native HW accelerated codecs included with the phone, as well as any extra codecs you need can get installed via the decoders-support package in extras.
