My answer was "it depends". GV contacts should work for supported clients. System contacts are planned for, for Maemo 5. If you cannot use the contacts list with The One Ring, then there is an issue.
Search is currently supported. Just start typing and the list will narrow down to the contacts with that name. You can even just start typing in the home screen and it will open contacts with that as your search
You can also go to the App Menu, select "Groups" and select "Google Voice" to show a subset of your contacts.
For those who don't want a huge list of GV contacts, you can now disable it in the "Advanced" connection settings.
Please note this is a Maemo Contacts issue and not a The One Ring issue.
I present contact names as Google gives them to me. Parsing name formats is a sticky business and I'd rather stay away from it especially since clients (like Maemo 5's RTComm) sort of mess with name parsing.
Sorry, getting some of my Onering and DC questions mixed up.
I added GV "field" to a contact. What number do I put in the number field? I put the number I want to call and when I press that link, it says select your own account, I press that and the selection goes away and nothing happens? Also looks like something broke at some point the onering because the dial pad fails now also.
Because I'm a lazy lazy bum. I think thats the package that provides liblongcat (or something like that) which is a generic configuration UI I use (rather than writing my own).
When I enable my GV account. It makes all these duplicates in my System Contacts. Looks like everything gets 5 duplicates.
Ever seen this?
Do your contacts have several phone numbers? I noticed that for some of my contacts, one contact was created for each phone number (home, cell, work, etc..)

A lot of them do. A LOT of them, have a LOT of phone numbers.

Duplicate names or duplicate names and numbers? I do create a separate contact per number and don't modify the name so it is expected for there to be duplicates in that way.
I think once back before 0.7 I saw on my n8x0 multiple GV contact lists. I've never seen it since.
