Hi guys, I can't get my AIM account to login. I have no problems with MSN or Yahoo, but AIM refuses to connect.

I installed Extra protocol plugins for Conversations and Contacts v0.7
(which then installed Link-Local XMPP, MSN, Pidgin Extra Protocols, Pidgin Protocols Plugin, and pymaemo-optify)

Then I added my MSN, Yahoo and AIM accounts, and for some reason only AIM will not work. under 'Advanced Settings' I tried to select the 'Use Clientlogin' and then sign in and still no luck (this would make it match my desktop PC's pidgin settings), and then the checkbox automatically deselect's itself.

Does anyone have any ideas why my AIM won't connect? Thanks

the latest version seems to be a little bit buggy.
you won't be able to login to icq as well.
and because icq uses the same network as aim i think that's the same problem.
you can downgrade the version to get icq working again - maybe this fixes aim too?!

    meanwhile you could use "pidgin".
it hasn't the integration into the contact profiles but i use it on my ubuntu desktop as messenger.
i tried the port for the n900 and have to say that it's really well done.
maybe you just give it a try.

And so is ICQ, but with one caveat: I had to restart the device (felt so much like some other OS we all know..)

im still unable to sign in with icq.
i installed the pidgin protocols plugin for conversations and contacts v0.7.

and added an msn acount, but im unable to add an icq acount.
when i press 'sign in' the button becomes disabled, but nothing happens after that.

    does anyone have any advise?

    0.7 doesn't work.
the latest version is 0.8 but that's maybe only in testing or devel repository yet....

I have .8 but for some reason I can't connect to AIM.

Are there any prefs I can clear that may be hurting something? Signing in via Facebook works fine btw, just my AIM won't work.

So mine started working. It might have been that I had a weird facebook-chat installed for Pidgin. Purged pidgin and now Aim works!
