skatebiker: did you use a script, or did you try running gphoto2 manually? Because it is a known problem that gphoto2 causes reboots if not run in a script.
I am mainly interested in the --capture-image as then I can use the N810 as a Wifi controlled remote control unit for my camera.
Downloading photos can simply be done by attaching the CF card into a card reader on a powered USB hub on the N810.
I tried it with the script, indeed no reboots anymore, but it did not recorgnize the eos 40 either. The option --capture-image said 'function unsupported'.
i'm very interested to try libgphoto2 on my Nokia n800, at this time i use it, on Vmware ubuntu and you can see here what we do with it http://www.autopano.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6396&p=1 http://www.autopano.net/forum/p49143...3-42-09#p49143
I have little probleme with shell script "to auto create a bash" but i hope to resolve it soon. the "auto script" is to not search on a liste the good to apply. sorry for my english.
Hope somebody read this and go to the other forum.
i'm waitting at this time the USB host connector before trying.
You can find also the project "Papywizard" here (i don't say anything about it, simply it's a great and very interesting to pilots a camera and a motorized pano head with all system win XP - Vista - Linux - and all nokia N770-800-810 (writing in phython) http://www.papywizard.org/wiki/WikiStart.
Even though I am the one (so far) that has been compiling and packaging 'libgphoto' and 'gphoto2' for Maemo (until someone else hopefully takes over the responsibility), I am personally not using 'gphoto2' on my N800 very much -- because it is so unreliable with my Nikon Coolpix cameras. Perhaps you will have better luck than me with it
I am also interested in the 'Papywizard' system, especially since it can be controlled on a Nokia internet tablet. I am personally waiting for good prices and availability of the Orion/Merlin GOTO mounts in Canada, as well as a cheap/easy wired (or wireless) connection to control it (bluetooth?). The last time I checked the project, it still looked 'tricky' and 'expensive'. It sounds like you want to try to *combine* the 'movement' control with gphoto2 via USB controls?

The merlin is not expensive 219 € TTC - i don't know in us Can but seems to be same.
I use Papy on 3 sys, nokia, linux and win, all goes well
gphoto2 only in linux. for win and nokia i use a "schutter" directly controled by "Merlin"
