    hi,
i was wondering whether someone could help me with a question, i just found a website called cathuptv which lets you watch freeview tv, my friend was showing it to me on his iphone, but it was a specific application for the iphone, i tried the pc version on my N900 and it's no good really, very slow and picture freezes, it does exactly the same when i try the bbc iplayer, but yet when i watch youtube it's as smooth as you like. is there a reason for this? does the N900 need applications to be able to use these type of sites? or is it just a case of patiently waiting?

barts - iplayer etc need flash 10 to work well... so yes the N900 needs applications to run them well. Just like the iphone.

There is a walkthrough guide on here to download the tv shows from iplayer to your phone

    Iplayer threads here

or the TV gorge thread here - streaming through KMplayer works fine for me.

I think it's earmarked for Maemo6 - probably not best to ask in here though. (Allthough, saying that can't see a specific flash 10 thread)

There's no yes/no answer to will we see it in maemo 5, but i doubt it.

Who knows whether it will actually ever be released though.

Someone on the maemo forums tried the hls-player ( m3u8 support for sites like tvcatchup) and he said it worked, but I`m struggling with this as the hls-player is a command line player. We have to wait for players like vlc for further streaming of awkward file formats

Barts, you can watch live BBC TV on N900 using these links, although the resolution is not great.

Also, BBC News 24 works fine directly on the BBC website, and so did the live broadcast of the Murray-Federer final. I hope the live Winter Olympics coverage will also work.

Why don't you guys back me up?
I started a thread at Adobe flash 10.1 forum asking them why they haven't released a beta for us N900 owners to test after they bragged on video showing flash 10.1 on the N900.
Here is the place to download flash 10.1 beta 2
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

Here is the forum where I started the thread.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/flashplayer10/

If you can please add your voice to the "where's our flash 10 beta for N900?"
Then maybe they will listen to us.

edit: I just saw I actually got some replies on the thread and they said it's Nokia that is holding out on us, Is that true?
I really hope this is not another circle jerk with two groups pointing the finger at each other and not answering the f'n question.
