Oh I would not want to hand all my data to an external company, that's why I just run funambol in-house on one of the existing machines.

Is there a way to sync contact pictures and skype account names with scheduleworld?

My sync setup:

n900 <-> scheduleworld <-> KDEPIM
at least we have here one other guy/gal with the same problem. I have all my KDEPIM stuff on my laptop. If using the N900 makes sense it must allow me to enter appointments in the calendar and have those synced at a later stage with the content on the laptop.
Now it seems that you go through the cloud (and paying??right?) instead of using the usb cable or wireless or blutooth. There ought to be a better way of doing this.

Is there someone out there who has solved this simple setup N900<-->KDEPIM?

Perhaps we could get something going together?

I have no step-by-step for you, but if you run KDEPIM you should have skills enough to setup Funambol?

1. if one wants to sync the laptop with the N900 that sits about a foot away going through the cloud seems anything but direct.
2. sometimes, going the long distance is faster, but: this is not a free service (90 days it is)
3. data security issues (does not bother me too much)

The odd thing is that there seem to be millions of sync initiatives and they have been around for years but oddly enough not lead to something that is finally accepted and can just be used: syncml, opensync, kitchesync, akonadi, syncevolution to name but a few.

odd

Why not have a look into this table and select a service of your choice?

I'm talking about running Funambol on the same computer as Evolution/KDEPIM, not on some remote server.

So, I haven't dug into this yet myself, but has anyone tried opensync / multisync (as mentionedd allready in post #7, http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=468215&postcount=7 ) and concluded that it doesn't work?

One could of course install funambol, but it seems kind of large, so a smaller app would be nice, maybe.

How difficult is the installation of funambol on a debian server? Is there an installation tutorial/howto available?

The installation guide at
http://wiki.debian.org/FunambolInstallation
looks good. Is anybody in this forum experienced with an installation of funambol? Is there additional configuration work necessary to get this running for synchronization between N900 and a funambol server? If so, is it realistic to do this within a couple of hours?
