Yes, my advice would be to avoid NSU. Either use SSU to do the update over the air, or use flasher. NSU has been behind a large proportion of the upgrade horror stories.

The new fw update .51 is great.

One of the biggest problems I had was multiple phone numbers for a contact. Prior to the update, the call log would NOT show the number that was dialed/used meaning when you selected a contact from the call log it would show all numbers for that contact and prompt you to select a number LOL. The update fixed this
Phone is running faster now, especially emails.

Beware, if you update from NSU, you may lose all your settings and previously installed programs on phone memory.

While you can get by without 1.1, you'll definitely want 1.2 if you plan on installing qt apps from extras. They won't be supported for pre-1.2 builds at all.

I agree, OTA update worked like a dream for my and the wifes N900s. The wife got impatient and wanted to restart it but i gave her a slap and told her to be patient!

Update process took a fair while. i must admit that when the wife started panicking i jumped in the shower for 15 mins and both devices had completed.

Reckon it was a good 25 mins and i made sure both were on mains charger before initiating the updates.

I noticed an improvement in battery life as the most significant improvement. As for holding until the next firmware, i heard somewhere that updates could be incremental in the future so it may mean that you would have to go to current FW before going to the latest once it comes out. dont quote me on this, maybe an expert in the O/S can confirm?

mine was working very fine before i updated it.. i dont have the reason too to upgrade it to 1.1.. but i chose to upgrade it... and its worth it.. the battery life is little longer now.. and i can see faster web loading and changing apps.. its up to you if you don't want to upgrade for now.. well, if your ok with that.. then just keep that.. =]
