Hi togehter i was yesterday in the city as a friend called me. The N900 was locked *lock slidebutton* and in my pocket.

i was finger the n900 out of my pocket the phone rings but i was haveing a black display.. so i couldnt answer the call.

i opend the keyboard i saw at the display my call still active and ready to answer..

so i closed my keyboard couse i was haveing a heavy bag in my other hand and .. the screen tuns black again. This took a Minute so my Buddy did finally hang up.

how comes that the n900 is not able to get into a calling mode wich i can use with one hand simply this is one of the easyest thing for any phone out there ..

I hope somebody could tell me whats the Problem and how to solve it.

Maybe it could be a bug with the hardware lock button, couse if i lock the device over the Menue i can acess the screen by slideing the button to the right.

This is the exact problem I have.
At first I would have to phone people back, but like you I discovered that opening the phone allowed access to the answer button.
I also have the problem of not being able to hang up after a call but again opening the phone allows access to the end button.

Sorry I have no proper solution. I have tried re-flashing and just rebooting the phone; both solutions only give temporary relief till it comes back randomly again.

It's a bug somewhere - either with the phone app or the proximity sensor. The phone should automatically unlock when you receive a call (it always has for me), but several people have reported seeing this issue. Unfortunately, as it's not reproducible on every device, it's probably going to be very difficult to fix.

    Thanks.
I've tried covering the sensor / uncovering when making calls with no luck. When trying to make the problem happen it just wont.

Anyone with the problem maybe have a screenprotector over the sensor?

Yes, I use a screen protector which covers the sensor, but if I cover the sensor in a call from 10-15mm above the phone it detects my finger and switches off the screen - lift my finger 5mm and it switches back on.

Can someone test this gap who doesn't have a protector covering the sensor. It would be interesting to compare. Thanks

Might be the same as https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7772 which lacks a lot of information. Feel free to add a comment there by using the bug template from comment 0 in that report. Please avoid simply "me too" comments.

Thanks Andre, I'll put the 'me too' comments here!

Yes it appears to be the exact same problem in the bug report. I did search the bug reports, but the title description in the bug report you mention is very vague, which is why I did not find it.

Problem has just happened again now. I started making a phone call to someone and as soon as I pressed the call button the screen went blank - continued with call and when removing the phone from my ear the screen came back on. So even half way through a call it behaviour changes.

hi guys good to see that iam not the only one with this Problem. So i dont use a screenprotector and i still have this Problem iam at work now so i will try to define a way to reproduce it later.

I think more and more that its a Problem with the hardware lock button couse if i have the desktop locked over the ui the bug dont happens.

    best regards crown
