I honestly can't think of a reason why you would want both accounts active at the same time.

I think I have experienced one server outage since I started using NM on my N85 about 12-18 months ago. That's as reliable if not more reliable than your Dutch account, which will probably experience their own outages from time to time.

Should you be concerned about server reliability then being able to configure both accounts, but disable one, would be a useful feature in which case you might want to vote for enhancement #6185.

Hi all,

I'm having problems signing up to Nokia Messaging. Once I get past the 1st step of the sign up process (providing your number and phone model) the website tells me that my phone model already has the latest Nokia Messaging software and that i have to sign up through the email program.

As far as I can tell, there is no provision for signing up to Nokia Messaging through the n900 email program. There's only the option for putting in the settings of an existing Nokia Messaging account.

Using the Maemo browser to signup also yields the same result as above.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

1. select the E-mail icon from the application menu (the icon with the @ sign),

2. click on the application menu at the top of the screen and select "new account" from the drop down menu.

3. select "next"

4. check that your region (eg. UK) is correctly shown (edit if required) and then press "other " on the "service proivider" field

5. this brings up a list which *should* include "Nokia Messaging" near the top (if not, try a reboot and/or wait a while)

6. From there on, it should be pretty intuitive, just give it the details of your desired mail account(s) & set your sync preferences etc.

7. once you do that and agree to the t's & c's, it should then set uo the nokia messaging acct for you, and selecting it will then bring up your own email account(s) within NM

Note - I just did this myself about 30 mins ago, and it took about 5 tries for it to complete the last step .. .it kept crapping out with an error (on a big orange banner) to the effect that it had problems with my mail account settings and that I should check them and/or try again later. it quoted a 4 digit hex code but I didn't note it down (I'm guessing 1fc0 or similar) - I hit "previous" to double check that my settings were correct (they were) and thereafter I just kept retrying after a few minutes wait and it eventually accepted them.

I have a question though - in the synchronisation options, I changed "Download Size" from the default setting to "header only" and saved it - however Inow see that the option is "dimmed" (unselectable) and set to ""partial message" - does anyone know why that is?

ok this is really strange. i dont understand the difference between modest and nokia messaging.

anyhow, because i want push e-mail, i tried to set-up nokia messaging and i've met no success. i went to their website first but there it said my device already has the latest version of nokia messaging. i surfed around on my phone and found no way to set up nokia messaging.

i opted to add a new account, chose nokia messaging as the service and it asked me for a username and password. someone here said ist quite intuitive from there on but i have no clue.

is that username and password supposed to be your nokia messaging username and password? what if you dont already have a nokia messaging account? anyway, i assumed that if its not a valid account, it will just take me to create a new account but no... it took me to the advanced settings page with most of my e-mail settings present. i clicked next and it set up my e-mail account on the e-mail client. how is that different from choosing "other" instead of "nokia messaging"? where is the push e-mail? what happened there? where is my nokia messaging account? :S

1. Go to email.nokia.com and create a new account

2. To configure email on N900, pick NM as the service and enter username/password you registered in step 1

well the mob no step will not make any difference jus click sign up put ny no and thn go to next step and add ur email. make sure password of that is same which u kept for email. nokia messaging uses that to get ur mails. on phone use the the credentials of this 1st id u created. it might take a while till ur able to log in. so sign up n thn keep trying on ur phone.
