No luck here. Still get backend error after running /etc/init.d/lirc start as root. Restarting device didn't help either. Any advice?

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post but i am looking for a bit of help. After a few days of messing around with this app i have it working and can control my tv but have still not acheived what i set out to do in the first place. I have just bought a new tv (LG M2262D) and i am trying to get into the service menu to enable avi playback through the usb. This can be done using a service remote or smart phone (s60) with different apps but i dont have one hence the reason i am using my n900. Anybody know config for the service remote (service menu button) on the LG M2262D. I can edit the config file but not sure what to edit it to.
    Thanks in advance

You could try uninstalling irreco for n900 and anything that came with it and install qtirreco.

I would like to record with irrecord, but it does not work.
Is there anybody succes with it?

Or this irreco was simply recompiled for N900 without any test like the 90% of applications here in modaco.org?

If and/or when I get irreco talking to the router's lircd I'll post some notes/debs/Makefiles/etc. This should be much friendlier than using irsend.

I recommend all hardware and software mentioned above.
    I like this idea.

However, most routers do not have USB ports, in which case the router has to be opened (https://wwwn.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.p...alo_WHR-HP-G54) and wired to the serial transceiver (http://iguanaworks.net/product2.psp).

Do you think that will work equally well? Were you able to also record the OEM remote control signals on the router?

[EDIT] After more research, I've found that this will not work. The serial port interface ("SPI") internal to routers is not RS232, but rather 3.3v TTL. 3.3v is not enough to power any IR device on the market. A transceiver could be built for 3.3v TTL as a DiY project, but it probably would not have enough power to get across a room. In conclusion, daperl's approach needs a router that has a USB port.

(and no, it will not work to use a MAX3232 chip to convert a routers 3.3v TTL to RS232)

PR 1.1.1 irreco is unuseable, always drops Lirc error.

My remote control is not on the database. RM-GD007 (sony bravia KDL-40W5500). I did find the remote control file for psiloc irrmote for nokia s60s. Is it possible to use that in some way to make the code for my remoteon qt irreco?

This is the link for the remote: http://irremote.psiloc.com/Download.aspx?id=35054
