I am having no luck configuring the 770 email client to properly communicate with Gmail. I have enabled POP3 on Gmail.

With the the following parameters set on the 770 for Gmail, I am able to SEND email successfully, but am unable to receive anything. When I Send/Receive, the 770 shows "Connecting" for several seconds then responds with "Connection closed by e-mail server. E-mail retrieval canceled. Try connecting again."

Mailbox name: Gmail
Mailbox Type: POP3
Name: (my actual name)
User Name: (my Gmail email address)
Password: (my Gmail password)
E-Mail Address: (my Gmail email address)
Incoming server (POP3): pop.gmail.com
Outgoing server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

ADVANCED - Retrieval
Retrieve: Messages and Attachments
Leave e-mail on server: checked
Password authentication: Secure

ADVANCED - SMTP server
SMTP authentication: Login
User name: (my Gmail email address)
Password: (my Gmail password)

ADVANCED - Other
Security: Normal (TLS)
Incoming e-mail port: 995
Security: Normal (TLS)
Outgoing e-mail port: 587

I got G-Mail's POP/SMTP settings working, see this thread:

There are some issues and work arounds however, I talk about them in the last post and the settings that worked for me are listed there.
