Awesome, this is the only app I'd miss going from my N82 to the N900. Now I can safely buy the phone

Mixed success. Some connection attempts succeeded, but not all. I was able to pull down a few web pages, and start up a spotify client getting a refreshed of playlists -- but didn't get any music. Either just no reponse, or a rebooting N900.

Still, its a good start.

The free analog so far isn't installable via HAM (or .install file), requires a fully custom kernel and in general lacks polish. In time it will improve though.

Quoting the project homepage:

This project was started before Joiku had announced that there will be JoikuSpot for N900 and is continued out of combination of intellectual curiosity and philosophical reasons (the whole free as in freedom vs proprietary software skit)
In fact the custom kernel is not all bad, since once down that road we can get other goodies too like QoS (Quality of Service) routing (enabled in the hotspot kernel but not yet used for anything), though if we can figure out a clean(ish) way to do NAT in userland we'll probably use the stock kernel too (having to reboot after install sucks, and so does reinstalling after firmware upgrade [or worse the custom package somehow messing up the upgrade...])

If someone wants the dirty details please start from page 10. (I guess I should write another summary one of these days...)

I used the N900 Joiku beta successfully over the weekend - even managed a secure banking transaction over it!

However, the software did crash out after a 15 minutes or so with "error code is 6-49--15".
I got this a few times when I'd first installed Joiku, and rebooted, too.

Has anyone found where to report such errors to Joiku? I've had a quick skip around the website, but haven't found anywhere obvious to send my report. Thanks in advance,
Edit: Aha! I found where to submit issues from http://www.joiku.com/?action=about&mode=joikuSpotHelp - it suggests info@joikusoft.com

Simon.

Dear Sir,

We are happy to inform you that JoikuSpot Linux Beta Edition has been published today at Maemo.org, http://maemo.org/. And OVI store should be launching soon, too.

Best regards,

Whether that means they just added a Downloads entry I don't know, but we'll see.

I get this same error. The program appears to work, I can see my iMac on the list, but it can't connect. Then if I let it sit, I get the "JoikuSpot error code is 6-49--15"

Anyone else seen this??

Hi there.

I think you get that error when Joiku is having trouble using the wifi chip or 3g chip. so go to offline mode. (Power button --> Menu --> Offline). Then Reboot the N900.

While rebooting its gonna ask you if you wanna re-enable everything. say Yes. Then connect to a wifi connection and browse to verify everything is back in order. Then, connect to your 3G provider. Then launch Joiku again, It should say "Using existing connection" and continue.....

Hello Corso85,

I tried your solution but I didn't get the re-enable everything, did you mean "Exit offline mode?".
When I load Joiku again, it doesn't ask anything I press connect and thats that.

Note: In settings there is an option that ask if you want joiku to ask if you want to allow sharing of the connection.

I checked it and unchecked but I don't get the message asking me to allow sharing, so maybe there is a problem there.

I tried to recreate the error specifically, it seems completely random. Your theory may be correct cause if I connect and goto offline mode I can recreate the error '6-49--15'

@Gorrila72 have you somehow fixed the problem?

So now I just have to reconnect every 10 to fifteen minutes.
It may be worth mentioning that I am using Ubuntu Karmic 64bit
