Yes, unless you purchase the anti-gravity app.

The owners manual says something about dropping the phone and how it can damage the delicate circuit boards. I've been lucky with dropping my Nokia's in the past as I've never had to pick up my phone to see it busted. I'd put the battery and cover back on (sometimes even sim card :P) and it would start and work as before, to the best of my knowledge...

But N900 is a whole 'nother animal. I don't plan on dropping this one :P

Did you drop yours?

well we can say that shooting it with a gun is similar to dropping it, except for the velocity the bullet hits it with, and that would ruin your phone yes...

For you physics junkies, imagine the bullet traveling at the highest velocity the phone can achieve while merely dropping it. it should be enough to ruin the phone.

I have dropped my N810 many times. There are no moving parts, so for the most part it should be fine.

If the phone is dropped hard enough to cause the PCB to flex a bit - then this puts lots of stress on the components - as they don't bend.

This can cause internal failures inside the components, or the solder joints to fail.

Nah, the case should protect against this. Now if you slam it on the ground and hit it with a baseball bat...

The case is robust.
But.
The phone weighs what - 150g?

If you drop it 1m, and it comes to rest in 1mm, then the force on the case is around 150Kg while it's stopping.

This is plenty to bend the case.
