Amongst todays crazy news this seems to have been over looked but its a big move by nokia IMO
hope this means we will soon get some kind of store for current maemo devices,
its the one service i've wanted on my n900 as i like to have everything easily accessible and purchasable from one portal.
also your ovi account sign will now/soon work on the music store

"Music: Last week, Comes With Music grew to 27 markets with its arrival in the Middle East. People that own a Comes With Music device can download as much free music as they want from Ovi Music and, unlike other online music services, can keep them on their device forever. Music downloaded from the Ovi Music à la carte menu is also DRM-free."

I'm very happy about the DRM-free Ovi Music, BUT:

-DRM-free CWM is what I really wanted. I don't understand what the record companies are thinking at this point. They've let everyone remove DRM except CWM. What is the supposed benefit? I can get anything I want as warez already, anyway, and CWM is the real killer app that could fight piracy for real.

-I excitedly went to check out their website, and apparently my "device" isn't supported. This Windows-only BS is getting a bit rich from a company that runs two FOSS operating systems. (Although we should keep in mind that they seem to be slowly but steadily fixing this across their product line.)

Still, good news indeed!

The Nokia music store is really the worst one I've ever seen!!!

Have you ever tried to visit it from any PC to bye music? I did and failed, just because I don't have any Microsoft internet explorer available on my notebook. (Nor do I have on my N900)

Silly me

it lets me get the albums but it says i dont have playback rights still
DRM is still there, rather its not filtered through the different local stores yet or going DRM-free dont count for older purchases.
i learnt the hard way about getting DRM in the first place lol

From the looks of it, this is only available if you have a "Comes With Music" device.

IIRC the DRM-free music hasn't been rolled out in all countries yet.
