I'm am looking for a way to call to landline and a mobile phone im not looking to make an internet calls to someone on a computer. I've already made landline and mobile calls just fine with gizmo so please dont say gizmo sucks because ive been happy with it so far with the free 25min. when u sign up. Can anyone give me any advice on witch is better and why theres so much hype about skype coming out.

user preference just like anything. but always take note: just because its open and the underdog doesn't mean its cooler or better and more doesn't always mean better.

for me I like the idea of gizmo being sip and all that open stuff, but its got a long way to go as far as existing user base over skype. Skype's node system it uses to connect calls makes the quality a lot better than Gizmo. Still very good either way. I'll stick to skype until gizmo shows me something that i need that skype doesn't do for me already. I don't need SIP. Skype also has better hardware, language and area code support.

It's almost the same as comparing google and msn or yahoo messenger. All preference. Even though applications like Pidgin can connect to multiple servers(which i use to connect to MSN and yahoo accounts) I prefer using googletalk for my gmail account.

For now if you can't live without the other install both, they not very big on memory.

earl's right - its a matter of preference. for me, i already have a few existing SIP-accounts that give me call-in and call-out from/to landline and mobile phones at very low rates and no monthly fees; i wouldn't even think of letting a proprietary piece of software like skype do things on my desktop PC i cant control, so I convinced those I want to call PC-2-PC to get their own SIP-compatible account. Given this setup, Skype on a 770/N800 wouldn't do any good for me.

If you already use Skype on your desktop PC and dont object to their business model and policy, well, then I guess it would be a waste of time to get SIP going on the tablet.
