i suspect that at first when i didnt have the map data i moved away from israel inro the see. so later when i tried all the update options in both the file and the find menus it still appeared as if i didnt have map data.
later for some reason the application started getting segmentation fault a few seconds after i launched it comsistently. a problem that wasnt resolved with a reinstallation, but got resolved as soon as i removed the contents of the maps folder.
I just got my N900 a few days ago, (had n95 before), and I love it.
But I am really missing waze, I am honestly considering using the n95 till waze comes to maemo, or meego...
For now I have tried installing freemap-il, it's running, gets a fix in 10 seconds on my house (from inside the house), but I just can't figure out how to enter a destenation address to navigate to it, I don't even care about voice, just directions.

Hi,
sorry for the late response, i assumed someone with more experience with this program will answer, since i'm also not entirely sure how to used it.
anyway, what i found is:
look for an address in the find menu.
set it as destination in the trip menu. (or via long click on a point).
then in the trip menu, select ניווט.
i think that's how i did it last time.
but now, when i tried to re-create, it didn't work. so i updated my map. restarted the program. and now i get some prints in the terminal and the program starts with a different ui.
the prints are a call-stack:
roadmap_config.c line 649, found no 'schema' config file, check roadMap installation.
roadmap_locator.c line 153 saying it can't open directory database (usedir)
I can't seem to get a GPS location. When I open both maps app and the freemap-il the GPS satelite icon just blinks and is in a "searching" status. This happens both inside and outside the house.
Also, I can't seem to find a way to download the Israeli maps for the freemap-il. I've tried the "rm /home/user/..." but the xterm is saying "cant remove since there is no file or folder that name". Download map from the find menu just does nothing.
