I tried this code from xTerm. Did not work. Does it need to run from a specific folder? Does the text "user" need to be replaced with something else?

But the tool bar configure is still way broken 
...
chmod +x /usr/bin/run_simplenotewidget
in order for it to work, but now it starts up with the desktop. For some reason it started a fresh instance of the widget, so I lost my simplenote content and color settings. But, the notes I've added since have survived reboots. Now we just need to be able to access the settings menu again to change the colors
