Ok, so the improvements in the update are not known yet. But is the date fixed? Can we assume that tomorrow we'll have a new update for the n800 firmware? Is that confirmed?
Most new firmware releases have been on a Friday, IIRC.
To meet Nokia's announced Skype deadline it has to be released in June (recently, only firmwares providing new third-party "headline" features have been released, no sole bug-fix/Nokia releases). The last working day is Friday, 29th June.
Ever since "Skype in first half of the year" it's been suspected to be that date since things are rarely, if ever, delivered early in IT.

...sorry, I just couldn't resist.

I don't know if you are making a joke in an attempt to combine my username with that of euchre, however if you have proof that he is me, and he isn't then put up or shaddup. That is from me (sapporobaby) to you, up close and personal.
P.S. I could resist but this time I choose not to.
About the killing app . Skype is by no means the killing application. For me the killing application is the phone-editor, that is, a PIM application that doesn't even have a database on it, because it basically edits what's on the phone.
A phone layer I think they call it.
So you wanna call someone? Ok, you don't need to stop using your N800. Simply use bluetooth to connect to your already synced Nokia Phone, doubleclick and there you are, calling them with your phone but using the N800 as bluetooth speakers emulation.
Linux has all the protocols there. The phone too. You just have to make them work flawesly with N800 and there you are. You can have full control of you phone without taking it out of your pocket.
Everything is there for Nokia to use: PIM-bluetooth protocols, File protocols so you can see the pictures you take with your phone, TCP/IP over bluetooth (that is already working), Phone calls over bluetooth.
That qould be the killing app, because it would mean N800 would become an extension of any Nokia phone, so Nokia could push it to every Nokia customer out there.
Criticism of N800 ability to browse forget to mention a point. There is NOTHING as N800 on the market that shows the Internet soo well.
Ok, some AJAX pages don't work and some flash 9 enabled websites neither. But right now nothing compares even with the first version of N770. No PSP, Windows Mobile, or Blackberry renders HTML soo good.
UMPC are on there way, but they are not there. And they are not going to be 400€ machines, so you cannot say a particular Ford is ******** because a Ferrary is faster.
