Was just reading Adobe's Linux blog and it mentions that flash 10.1 won't be hardware accelerated on Linux because of the uncertainty surrounding the hardware acceleration APIs in Linux and as none of the existing APIs allow them to get a decode frame from the hardware. Personally I think VA-API is probably the answer, though it would probably need to be extended to get access to decoded frames.

However, given that Maemo is based on the Linux kernel and X Windows, does that mean that it will suffer from the same issues (unless TI nicely write an extension to VA-API, which I won't put beyond them as they are indeed spending a lot on OMAP3), and if so, would flash 10.1 be hardware accelerated on Maemo?
