I do like the customisability of the homescreens and that fact you can put shortcut icons and so forth wherever you like...but unless you spend ages trying to line them up by eye it can look rather untidy. Is there some way of making them snap to a regular grid?

install an app called "tweakr".
(info @ http://maemo.org/packages/view/tweakr/)

to do so you have to enable the testing-repository.
(apps in testing and devel could cause problems - but tweakr is working fine for a long time on my n900 ^^)

you can edit a special file too. but i don't know where it's stored at the moment.

I think tweakr offers that capability. But I think it is in extras-testing so be warned for possible side-effects.

A program called tweakr allows this

EDIT: Yeeesh... 3 responses in a row from people who want to help.
...and yet I see threads stating how hostile and not user friendly this forum is.

hahaha It really ain't a hostile forum. I believe it's actually quite helpful, someone's always out there waiting to answer your question!

Btw I've been using Tweakr for quite a while now and haven't suffered from any problems. I would say go for it. It's got some useful options.

Well no need software installation.
Simply just add an icon to your screen then moving them around to next screen then move it back. It should snapped in place.

Hmmm i have been looking for this type of thing. A snap to grid will be most helpful. I wander if its out of testing yet, i will take a look

This seems like the right place to ask. Does anyone know if you can have a shortcut to another desktop. I use all 4 desktops and will often be at screen 1 and want to get to screen 3. swiping is all good but sometimes i just want to press a button on screen 3 to pop up
