Could you guys help me set up a USB network from my n900 onto windows xp sp3.

I followed the wiki and set up a directory with the 3 files (rndismpx.sys, Nokia770 USB Ethernet RNDIS,usb8023x).

But when i connect the n900 through pc suite and try to ping 192.168.2.15 it doesn't work.

Is there anything else that i need to do?

Thanks in advance!

Same here, also does not work for me. Neither the other thread nor the wiki really helped me as they only say there is no driver needed for Windows XP... still it does not work, I have no interface to configure in Windows.

Thanks and best regards,
Corwin

I tried that, but when i try to install the linux.inf file it doesn't get selected.

That is: I do step 8 and show the directory containing the file.
But when i click ok, the driver does not show up on the "Network adapter" dialog box.

I got the linux.inf file from here: http://www.davehylands.com/linux/gum...bnet/linux.inf

I was hoping to get it working on Windows 7 64Bit, no clue how to go about it.

Its such a PITA considering how amazingly easy it is to do on Linux.

here's my little venture in usb networking between my N900 and XP desktop.

i had PC Suite installed on my PC and i tried the instruction given in http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_USB_networking and it didn't work. the RNDIS connection simply didn't show up on XP.

then i found this page http://pc-connectivity.garage.maemo.org/, uninstalled PC Suite, deleted all related files/registry with PC Suite Cleaner, re-flashed my N900, and followed the instruction on that page and it kind of worked. i could ping and ssh between the N900 and XP. then i installed the dummy network connection package and i probably did something wrong along the way so my N900 crashed and lost the audio on the device (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=13). then i re-flashed and tried again and i couldn't even ping or ssh between the two afterwards.

I have also tested pc-connectivity some and would recommend everyone to stay clear of it. It seems like a dead project with no connection to the N900 reality. Regular PC-Suite mode on the N900 enables a perfectly usable USB IP interface (as connecting to Linux PC shows well), so nothing more on device should be necessary. It's all on the XP side IMHO.
