    N900 Has gone Quiet (low volume) Help

    Hi All

    Well i have done something i assume, maybe its all gone pete tong but my volume is really low (mainly on music play back but ring tone + Text tone is lower too my volume slider is up on the task bar and in the player its self and its even low with headphones in on full volume i can hardly hear the music :-( any ideas people ? the volume control on the side of the phone is on max too. has something died ?

    OK actually it seems about right when i play it through the phone speakers but is wayyyyyy quiet on headphones

    You know there are usually 2 or 3 volume controls, right?

    One in the app, a hardware one for the amp in the phone and maybe one built into the headphones..

    Try other headphones
    Use the rocker key key on the phone side, near the NOKIA word
    Turn the vol up in the app

    try alsamixer -c0 in xterm, and see what the headphone volume is at. It should be around 80 something, you can put it at 100, but going 80-100 doesn't really make a diffrence. If it's really low than that's the problem.

    Headphones must be plugged in, or it'll automatically be at 0 without them.

    One thing I just noticed is that the volume up control in the phone app is the exact opposite of how it is in every other app I've used on here (nice huh). Wonder what genius came up with that one?? So There i was frantically trying to hear a call and turning it DOWN to total silence...
