"folder x2"? What folders? Are you misattributing #5838 to Catorise?

To put this to rest, here is a definitive list of the applications which will have two shortcuts available in the desktop's "Add shortcut" dialogue (if you have one already added, you'll see one extra one):
    • Calendar (calendar.desktop)
    • Clock (worldclock.desktop)
    • Contacts (osso-addressbook.desktop)
    • Conversations (rtcom-messaging-ui.desktop)
    • Email (modest.desktop)
    • Media Player (mediaplayer.desktop)
    • Phone (rtcom-call-ui.desktop)
    • Photos (image-viewer.desktop)
    • Web (browser.desktop)

If you have any other additional shortcuts, or more than 2 of any of these, you probably have installed 0.7.0-0.7.2 of Catorise from Extras-devel at some point. To sort it out, as root:

    Code:
    apt-get purge catorise
    rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/catorise-*.desktop
    rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/*.catorise.desktop
    rm -rf /opt/catorise
    apt-get install catorise

Yeah, my n900 has this same 'problem'.
Doesn't seem to cause any problems though, as far as i can tell.

If it aint broke, don't fix it

    Check your:

/usr/share/applications/hildon (I think that path is right) and check your *.desktop files. If you have duplicate desktop files you can delete some.

NVM.. Just noticed you said shortcuts. I don't know where those are.

    Hi,
I have these duplicate entries, too.
If I add, for example, one "Photos" shortcut, there's only one left in the shortcut selection list. If I add that to my homescreen, too, there are no "Photos" entries anymore in the shortcut selection list.
So probably the reason for these duplicates is that you can add certain shortcuts twice on your homescreens.

EDIT: and I don't think this should be a reason to flash your device
